Future Wildcats! We are excited to meet all of you! The following letter includes some general information for soccer tryouts at the beginning of school. Please read carefully as all questions should be answered within the letter.

All student-athletes interested in trying out for the soccer program should be scheduled into soccer at Plano Senior High School. If you make the program, then you will continue in the off-season program. If you do not make the program, then you will speak with your counselor about a schedule change. If you are competing in a fall sport, then you will finish your season before trying out for soccer. That date is the first Monday after Thanksgiving Break.

Tryout dates: August 14th - August 23rd        Time: 4:00pm - 5:00pm

-Vines and Clark students will ride a shuttle bus over to Plano. You will need to meet the shuttle bus outside of your campus right after 7th period. You will change in the soccer locker room.

 

-Parents will pick up their daughters after 5:00pm at Plano by the baseball field.

ALL STUDENTS WILL NEED TO COMPLETE THE FOLLOWING PAPERWORK ON RANKONE: Can be found on PISD athletic website

-Updated 2024 physical evaluation (MUST BE ON PISD FORM & DATED AFTER APRIL, 1ST)

-Medical History form filled out by player and parents and signed by both

 

-All UIL paperwork must be completed before you can tryout in RankOne - no exceptions

All players need to come prepared for tryouts with the proper equipment including water, cleats, shin guards, running shoes, and a plain t- shirt with your last name visibly written on the front and back. We will provide the soccer balls.

EVALUATION:

**Due to the competitive level of our school and our opponents, previous soccer experience is almost a necessity in order to make the roster for our team**

-Technical ability- individual skill including passing and receiving, shooting, dribbling

-Small Sided game- touch in small spaces, game awareness

-11v11 tactical game- passing accuracy, shape awareness, creating space, the understanding of different positions

-Fitness- assessment will include endurance and sprint testing

If you currently are receiving accommodations for a disability under Section 504 or Special Education and believe you need an accommodation in order to have equal access to participate in soccer, please let Coach Smith know as soon as possible, but no later than 24 hours before the tryouts are scheduled.

  • Be on time and have all your paperwork and
  • Come ready to work hard and compete…No
  • All players should be game

A positive attitude, a strong work ethic, and an understanding of teamwork will make a difference.
